AVATAR WAY OF WATER REVIEW

Avatar the way of water is the sequel to 2009 mega blockbuster Avatar directed by James Cameron who have delivered cult classics like #titanic , #terminator etc

The film stars sam worthington , Zoe Soldrana , Sigourney waeuvur , Kate Winselet , Stephen Lang , etc .

The film is based on the same plot as the prequel which deals with the colonisation of a alien planet and how the orginal descendants of the planet protects themselves with the help of mix breed avatar who wants to fight for the Alien race and their cause while falling in love with the daughter of the chieftain.

Bringing in one of the most exotic visuals that has been ever witnessed in cinema #AvatarTheWayOfWater is a visual treat in which
JamesCameron takes you to a very interesting journey and it looks like a journey or tour a alien planet this time filled with visuals of water and ocean visually Avatar 2 is the best products cinema has produced visually .

Performance wise everyone have given their very best and they are in ease with their roles in comparison with the prequel . The 10 year and plus journey of the cast and team with solely depending on cameron’s vision and deliverables is surely rewarding .

The vfx team has exceeded exceptional levels giving you the highest standards that are available in digital film making world to give the best visual cinematic experience.

The screenplay of Cameron completely resembles the prequel and looks more of a spin off rather than a new one but what holds the film is its visual deliverable and making that gives a new feel to the film and makes the movie engaging .

On the whole #AvatarTheWayOfWater does not offer anything new on storylines but what it promises is a visual spectacle backed by powerful performances and a terrific making which pleases as a cinematic experience on the whole .

Waiting for Avatar 3

CONNECT REVIEW

Connect is a film directed by Ashwin Saravanan of Maya and game over fame . The director has already proved his calibre in his previous work which was both critically and commercially succeeded .

This time the director joins with his debut star Nayanthara who has previously worked in Maya together , the film is a home production for the celebrity couple Nayanthara and wikki .

The film is based on a covid scenario with minimal stars and locations and the film is pretty engaging and keeps you hooked while giving you jump scares in many places . Ashwin Saravanan has really has the potential of turning a good idea in a interesting screenplay into a gripping cinematic experience for which his technical team has helped him to a large extent .

the film set in a lockdown situation make use of its technical brilliance and earnest performances from this talented stars who have given a really commendable performance and takes the audience for a really spooky ride from the start to the end with gaining a added advantage from its crisp time run of one and half hours .

Nayanthara has come a long way as a solo performer she knows when to act and when to underplay while giving one of her memorable performances in her career . The child artist Anifa has really did a phenomenal job as the daughter of Nayanthara who has complemented Nayan’s performance in every possible way She steals the show .

Sathiyaraj , Anupam Kher and Vinay have given their genuine performances in their short but well lived roles thanks to their experience .

Technically speaking this film is a outstanding work from the team who have lifted the film to several notches higher with their expertise both musically and visually this one is going to win several accolades especially set in a closed environment the colour grading and sound work is excellent .

The screenplay though reminds you of Ashwin’s previous works Game over and Maya the director skilfully uses his technical expertise to give a good cinematic experience for the viewers in its short duration .

Give a try for connect in a theatre with good audio visual system you are in for a spooky chill ride that will give you the needed adrenaline gush .

Venthu thanintha kaadu review

Venthu thaninthathu kadu is a film directed by Gautham Vasudev Menon starring Silambarasan , Appukutty , Siddhi Idnani etc

The plot of the film is based on how a rural personality due to circumstances become a gangster despite his limitations told on a natural narrative rather than a cinematic one .

The hero of the film simbu has given a life time performance as muthu the entire picture is on his shoulders and he gives his fullest especially his physical transformation deserves a special mention .

This film is the most non gvm film ever from gvm right from the rawness to the rural backdrop the narrative is completely non elite which gets our attention from the teaser release .

The movie is dealt with a drop of realism mixed with commercialism in every elevation scene muthu gets

The ARR factor is the biggest advantage that everyone gets here the re recording and songs takes you into the world of muthu giving you a magical experience.

The editing by Anthony , cinematography by Siddhartha Nuni is fantastic

Appukutty and Siddhi has notable roles and have given a neat performance among the rest of casting .

On the downside yes it may take some time to accept this as a gvm simbu film given their previous collaborations VTV and AYM but this one has your liking if you enter the world of muthu

A believable gangster drama that works in most pa

NATCHITRAM NAGARGIRATHU REVIEW

NATCHITHRAM NAGARGIRATHU REVIEW

Natchithram nagargirathu is a film directed by Pa Ranjith who has directed Sarpatta Parambarai in recent past and was a super hit in Amazon Prime .

This film stars Kalidas Jayaram , Kalaiarasan , Dushara etc . The film is dealing with several novel themes especially this film is the first film to deal with LGBT community and it is been dealt in a organic way incorporating it inside the screenwriting very beautifully.

Ranjith is one of the very few film makers who has unconventional way of thinking this is the movie I remember using the word SC with out any cut or censoring and where the A certificate becomes its advantage .

The biggest strength of the film lies in its convention and the story it wants to tell the audience . Each character has a back story and it will make you uncomfortable for the initial part and then make you think what is wrong is them or is it us and that is point that director Ranjith wants to highlight .

The actors are brilliant bringing the strongly written characters into life . Take Kalaiarasan as a example what he speaks reflects the comman man mindset towards the society . Dushara is another highlight who speaks for the underprivileged women and the hurdles faced by them in the society . All other actors have given a memorable performance .

Music by Tenma is soothing to ears and the usage of Ilayaraja music is a masterstroke and taking ilayaraja as a metaphor for the politics ranjith wants to speak wow what a craftman Ranjith is 👌 . Cinematography by kishore kumar is amazing gives a mood and colour to each and every frame and elevates the experience.

Editing by Selva Rk is picture perfect

The colour grading is brilliant .

On the downside the movie deals many things on the face which may make the audience uncomfortable .

A brilliant and redefining cinematic experience that will change the viewers mindset on the whole .

Thank you Ranjith sir

10 years of Pa Ranjith

10 YEARS OF PA RANJITH

Pa Ranjith began his career with Attakathi in 2012 which was a trendsetter in tamil cinema . The commercial nuances blended with a unique sense of realism is what Pa Ranjith has offered to mainstream cinema .

The fight sequences , romance portions , comical episodes everything is a representation of the common man nothing seems over done or misrepresented.

Apart from the revolutionary subjects Pa Ranjith has handled so far in terms of its communal connect and political backdrop is a revolution in main stream film making .

His second movie #madras is a subject based on friendship and backstabbing and how it affects and affected by the local politics of North Chennai . North Chennai has always been misrepresented in Tamil Cinema not a exaggeration but Ranjith brought another page of life of North Chennai people which was new to audiences .

The next two films of Pa Ranjith was with the numero uno star of southern cinema Rajinikanth but even then Ranjith was clear with what he wanted to do with Rajini’s star power clearly doing it perfectly . Among Kabali and Kaala the latter one is my personal favourite . The politics of land was well communicated through Rajinikanth and Naana Patekar

After two films with Ranjith most commercial film makers would have wanted to combine with another star hero but Ranjith was not same he tried to make the statement stronger with his production ventures take Pariyerum Perumal as a example which is a outstanding piece of work with Mari Selvaraj being a talent to look for .

His next venture was a story already been narrated to Karthi before Madras a boxing based script with many stars in pivotal roles but due to date issues the story was made with Arya in lead role with Pasupathi , John Vijay, GM sundar and others . The movie opened to critical acclaim and was a extremely successful OTT venture .

Now Ranjith is doing a film with Vikram in lead while all other works of Pa Ranjith had musical score by Santhosh Narayan with whom he shares a beautiful chemistry this film has music by GV Prakash Kumar for the first time in Ranjith’s filmography.

What change Ranjith has brought to tamil cinema is poignant and a very important one which will be a mark of change in history of Tamil Cinema

VIRUMAN REVIEW

Viruman Review
Viruman is the film directed by Muthiah who has previously worked with karthi for komban which was a huge commercial success especially in the rural centres
This is their second collaboration starring along Aditi Shankar , Prakash Raj , Saranya Ponvannan , soori , RK Suresh , Raj Kiran, Manoj Bharathiraja and Indhraja Shankar in main roles .
The film deals with the vengeance between the son and father played by karthi and Prakash Raj respectively.
The biggest strength of the film is its casting with Karthi carrying the rural character after Komban , paruthiveeran and kadaikutty singam all which became huge successes is in ease here too especially in the naughty portions karthi is so much fun to watch apart from him this film marks the debut of Aditi Shankar the daughter of ace director S Shankar who has given a very confident and energetic debut especially her dance movies were so enjoyable welcome to tamil cinema Aditi

Among the supporting actors Prakash Raj gets a meaty role and does full justice to his role and conveys the emotions perfectly.

Others such as saranya Ponvannan , Soori , Indhraja shankar gives the performance required from them Soori one liners hits the mark the actor has a comfort playing rural roles rather than city roles .

Music by Yuvan Shankar Raja is a huge value addition to the film all the songs are chartbusters and it looks so pleasant to watch the songs on screen .

Editing by Venkat Rajaan and cinematography by Selvakumar is really good and adds colours to the film

On the downside the screenplay by muthiah is highly predictable and follows the same pattern of his previous films moving to nothing new everyone will easily get to know what will happen next
But I think this film will work the target audience as the film has commercial elements in right amount.

Give a try with family may work for you

LAAL SINGH CHADDA REVIEW

laalsinghchaddhamovie

Laal singh chaddha is a movie directed by Adavit Chandan starring Amir Khan , Kareena Kapoor Khan and Naga chaistanya in leads .

The movie deals with the inspiring and emotional journey of the lead character who undergoes various challenges loosing the people he loves and comes with flying colours .

The movie is interestingly crafted with taking the core plot from Tom hanks blockbuster movie Forest Grumpp that is been translated into a emotional and engaging film thanks to the writing by Atul and a well made by Adavit Chandan

When comes to performance it is Naga chaistanya who impresses me the most as the innocent friend of Amir khan puts a smile on your face in the brief time he appears on the screen .

Amir Khan has also given a very convincing performance as chadda sometimes though looks artificial it is satisfying in most parts and yes it is one of the most memorable performance from khan .

Kareena kapoor is brilliant as Roopa and she gets a very meaty role and she shows what she can perform if she gets the space and gives a brilliant performance in the celluloid after a long time .

Editing by Hemanti sarkar is neat and cinematography by satyajit is colourful

On the downside film becomes bit tiring at the end

But on the whole this film is a sincere adaptation of Forest grump that has a soul and puts a smile on your face when you leave the screens .

KAATERI REVIEW

Kaateri is a film directed Deekay of yamirukka bayamaen and kavalai vendam fame . The movie stars vaibhav , Aathmika , Karunakaran , ravi maria along with varalaxmi sarathkumar and manali

The film deals with a group of people who get caught in a village and gets haunted by group of ghosts

The movie is sometimes entertaining and sometimes irritating . The director wanted to make the magic of yamirukka bayamaen happen again but what comes is a very mediocre product

Actually this film should have released long before immediately after kavalai vendam but due to financial reasons have delayed and released now .

The movie’s biggest flaw is its handling of horror scenes which had a good potential and the katteri scenes could have been a scream but what we hear is laughing scream from audience for horror scenes more than the humour scenes

But that is what director is also intended it seems .

What works is few comedy scenes in first half which really clicks with the audience and sets the yamirukka bayamaen kind of mood .

Im a fan of deekay’s previous works especially kavalai vendam is a personal favourite of mine especially its emotions and how it was mixed with really funny adult comedy .

But here the adult comedy is sometimes disgusting especially i dont find anything funny here despite Ravi Maria trying very hard to make you laugh

Technically speaking spooky scenes are decently made the katteri make up and cg was really fine

On the whole katteri is a watchable experience thanks to some comedies which work but you can safely skip it
